TOP OF THE DAY

07 March 2006

My sister told me a story just now....

There was once a young man who was out on a hunting trip and he captured an absolutely beautiful horse. When he returned to the village where he stayed, everyone praised him that he had caught such a gorgeous horse and his father was very proud of his son.

The father and son fed the horse the best food and stuffs, but one day the horse ran away, and every villagers started cursing the horse, saying how bad it was.

After a few days, the horse came back, and it brought along an even more beautiful horse and this time its a female horse. And all the villagers started praising again.

Unfortunately one day, the son rode on the horse, fell and broke his leg. The villagers started condemning the horse yet again.

Years later, a war broke out and all men were to go for the battle but the son was exempted due to his broken leg....

This is the story behind 塞翁失马,焉之非福。。。

Meaning each loss you experienced may not be a loss at all, further more, it could be a gain! I shall use this story to get over my sad experiences today. Damn it
